Memory work:
God saw everything that He had made, and behold,
it was very
good. Genesis 1:31
Dear
Parents,
Good morning! Your second graders are doing an awesome job
of adjusting to our daily schedule! This week is another full week!
Tomorrow (Tuesday) evening is
our Elementary Curriculum Night for parents.
The General Information session begins at 6:30 p.m. in Friendship Hall. Then
we will adjourn to the classrooms to learn about our daily schedules and our
yearly goals. There will be two classroom sessions; one at 7:00 and the other
at 7:25. I hope you will be able to join
us. (This is an event for adults only.)
The
Scholastic book orders came home last week.
You may either send your child’s order in to school with a check made
out to Scholastic Books, or you may order online. The orders should be placed
by September 5th.
In math we are continuing to review
the basic facts and patterns. Most
evenings your child has been bringing home the lesson sheet. We will complete side A in class and side B
is to be completed at home. Please take
a look at side A to understand what we did in class. It will help you to help your child complete
the homework side. This should be used
as a sharing time between you and your child. Make your child responsible for
getting the homework back to school each day! (Some days the students will have
enough time to start side B at school.
Even if the homework is finished at school, it should be checked and
initialed by a parent and returned the next day.) The math fact
homework sheet should be done at home, but it does not need to come back to school. Everyone has done a great job of returning
the lesson sheets so far. Let's keep
that habit going!
In Social Studies, we are working on
maps and landforms. Be sure to watch for
a homework assignment coming soon where the children will be asked to draw maps
of their bedrooms.
Just a reminder: Should you
need your child to leave school early, please go to the office, sign your child
out and Mrs. Morelan will call for your child to come to the office. Also, if a student arrives after the 8:10
a.m. bell, the student should stop by the office and sign in. Thanks for helping us in this way.
Looking forward to seeing you
on Tuesday evening. Just a reminder that we do not have school on Monday,
September 3rd. Have a fun and relaxing
Labor Day weekend!
Yours
in Him,
Janet
