Memory work: (This is part 2 of the words we will say at
the Advent service. Some students said it last week, so they do not have to say
it this week.)
But the angel said to them, “Do not be
afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the
people. Today in the town of David a Savior has
been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will
be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a
manger.”

Dear
Parents,
We are now two weeks away from our
Christmas break! There are so many
things to do! We will continue our
Christmas around the world country presentations. The country reports that we have heard so far
have been excellent. I am sure that this
week’s reports will also be great.
In math, we are getting into the swing of adding
two-digit numbers with “carrying” (regrouping). We are also starting to work
with the minus facts, beginning with minus 1 and minus 0, the really easy ones.
Of course in religion, the Christmas story will be our
focus for the next week. What a
wonderful story it is AND what a blessing it is that we can share this story
with those around us each and every day.
Any Scholastic book orders are due on or before this
Wednesday. You may place them on line or
send the order with a check to me. I will place the order Wednesday evening and
the books will be here before the break.
Next Monday evening, December 17th, is our annual
K-8 Advent service at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood. The service is
scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. The
children are to meet Mrs. Klug and me in the Concordia Center by 6:25. Please
make sure that your child has used the bathroom before meeting us. We will sit together as a class. After the service, please meet your child
where we are sitting. This is a worship service. It is always a special worship
event in the lives of our CCLS families. Afterwards, there will be a bake sale
with special treats for your holiday functions.
The end of the second quarter is
next Friday, the 21st. I will need to
have your child’s church and Sunday school attendance form and your child’s
service project form turned in on or before that day. Thanks so much. I am planning to work on the report cards
over the break. They will be released on
Friday, January 11th.
Have
a wonderful week!
Janet
