Newsletter for the week of October 8th

October 8, 2018
Memory work: Third commandment:  Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Fourth commandment:  Honor your father and your mother.

Dear Parents,
Believe it or not, this is the last week of the first quarter.  Please send in your child’s church and Sunday School attendance sheet this week so that I can record it on the report card. Also, if your child has not brought back the Service Project sheet, please send that in this week as well.
This is National Fire Prevention week.  Today we had a fire drill and  the children learned a lot about fire safety from the Webster Groves fire department. Remember to have a conversation with your children about where a safe meeting place is outside your home in the event of a fire.  Also, check those smoke detectors this week!
Our first CCLS University session will be held this Thursday, OCTOBER 11, from 6:30-7:30 pm on our elementary campus at Webster Gardens focusing on the topic of Video Games and your children.  Babysitting will be available at no charge. (Please do let us know that you are coming by clicking on the reservation form on the CCLS website.)
Later this week, a conference request note will be sent home with each child. Remember that your child will be leading the conference (on October 25th and 26th), so pick a convenient time for this. Please fill out the form and return it on or before next Wednesday, October 17th.  The teachers will be meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the 17th, to coordinate the conference times. It is very helpful if you send back a copy with each of your children at the Elementary campus. You may also e-mail your preferences to me. Your conference time will be sent home with the report card on October 19th.
Book orders are due on or before this Friday, the 12th.  You may order online or send your order to school.  The online order code is GL4JP.
Next Tuesday, October 16th, we will be taking a morning field trip to Powell Hall to hear the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.  We will leave at 8:40 and be back before lunch (11:30).  The student cost is included in the tuition.
October 19th is the day of our Harvest Party.  The party will be at 2:00.  Thanks to Hannah’s Mom for coordinating the event and thanks to all of you who volunteered to help.  Please let Christine S. know if you are able to help fill any of the holes on the party grid.
Have a great week!
Yours in Christ,
Janet Leet
